Over the years Wcc has provided an effective referred service, and the expectation is that WCC’s service will remain equally effective. - [Extended range of UKCA self-collection tests and sample kits](https://whitecrosspolyclinics.com/extended-range-of-ukca-self-collection-tests-and-sample-kits/): Many more doctors and practices are recognising the benefit in being able to offer self-collection kits to their patients. Blood, stool, urine, swabs, in various combinations, enable patients’ samples to be collected safely at home and to be sent to the laboratory for testing. Specimens that are self-collected by patients on their own without a healthcare professional must be taken using sample kits which comply with UKCA regulatory guidelines. All self-collection kits that WCC distribute are now UKCA version test kits. - [Change in method from Jaffe to Enzymatic Creatinine](https://whitecrosspolyclinics.com/change-in-method-from-jaffe-to-enzymatic-creatinine/): To date, the Jaffe method has been used for measuring creatinine in all sample types. From 9th May the Jaffe method will be replaced by an alternative enzymatic method. This change to the enzymatic method is based on national recommendations and considered to be analytically superior, complying with NICE guidelines for both chronic kidney disease and acute kidney injury (https://www.nice.org.uk/guidance/cg182 and https://www.nice.org.uk/guidance/CG169). - [WCC Update: May 2023](https://whitecrosspolyclinics.com/wcc-update-may-2023/): Gonorrhoea sensitivity testing The number of antibiotics used for standard susceptibility testing for Gonorrhoea has been reduced from 6 to 3. The standard 3 antibiotics used for susceptibility testing for Gonorrhoea culture isolates are ceftriaxone, ciprofloxacin and azithromycin. Additional antibiotics (penicillin, tetracycline, spectinomycin or cefixime) can be requested without additional charge. This change is due to new testing methodologies recommended by both the international antibiotic testing committee (EUCAST) and national advice from the Gonococcal Resistance to Antimicrobials Surveillance Programme (GRASP), who stipulate MIC testing methodology instead of a disc-diffusion testing methodology. Reference values for semen parameters in these guidelines have been determined from data providing the semen characteristics of a reference population of men whose partners had time to pregnancy of 12 months or less.
